What’s the Mystery?
Right now I’m working on creating new things for you to see this summer. The one I just finished was a mystery to me when I started sewing.
Several of the quilts in my inventory started this way. They are called Mystery Quilts. The Mystery quilt I am solving and sewing right now is from my favorite designer, Bonnie Hunter. Starting on Thanksgiving, she sends out a clue each week to guide us to assemble our quilt blocks.
This year she was inspired by her recent trip to Vietnam. Her colors were indigo blue, light blue, red, and white. Since I made a blue, red, and white quilt last year, I chose to use forest green, light green, and golden yellow.
7 parts needed to be made. The sample images above show the diversity of colors, prints, and tones, that different people chose to use for their quilts.
After 8 weeks, would you believe that the 7 blocks become this? Such an interesting layout with two blocks alternating to create an overall design
After quilting, I am proud to say that “Green Bay” is one of my favorite quilts. I enjoy forging ahead without a known destination on a mystery quilt. That’s the fun of it!
