How I Got Started

My family came to visit me this week before they started school. It is hard to believe fall is around the corner.

One of the highlights of their visit was a trip to the beach. As we were packing up a nearby family commented on our beach blanket, that I had made and we started talking about my quilts.

They asked me how I got started in my business and craft.  I have an art degree but getting started with quilting started so much earlier than college.

It got me thinking about how my mother taught me to sew at age nine. She always sewed and made quilts for all six of her grandchildren and three of her great-grandchildren. And I had just sent off a personalized quilt to my brand new 5th grandchild, keeping the tradition alive.

During their visit, I also had some extra help around the shop. New signage was hung and one of the grandkids even joined me in the studio to work on some inventory.
