We will be back be for you know it!

Even while our Sister Bay shop is closed for the winter, there’s still plenty of quilting activity happening behind the scenes.

Last month, I had the chance to spend a few days sewing with friends at the Trillium Quilting Guild retreat at Bjorklund Retreat Center in Baileys Harbor. Retreats are great times to focus on sewing. No laundry to be done, no house to be cleaned!

Being inspired by the other guild members’ creative spirits was the best part of the retreat. Everyone’s color palettes, patterns, and determination are inspiring. Whether it is bright, rainbow stars or a gradient display of green four-leaf clovers, each brings a new idea to mind and gives me ideas for more quilts. (Not that I need more projects on my list!)

I made a table runner, a sofa throw quilt top, ready to finish, and I’ve nearly finished a queen-size quilt top. This was all accomplished while rejoicing at each other’s progress and laughing at each other’s challenges. Getting help from others to solve those challenges is one thing that doesn’t happen when sewing in the studio.

I left the retreat with renewed energy and creative spirit.

Looking Ahead to the Next Season

Now that I’m back in my studio, there are many projects I can’t wait to share with you at the shop. We look forward to welcoming you back this year. Opening Day will be here before you know it!
