A Quilter’s Vacation

After a busy season, I finally took a vacation. This was the 5th year that I enjoyed a quilting retreat in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia at Quiltville Inn!

The Victorian house is the perfect place to escape from reality and just quilt with friends. We talk and laugh as we work on our various projects. Bonnie Hunter, owner of the beautiful Inn,  is my favorite quilt pattern designer. It’s a real treat to see her almost every day as she stops in to check on us.

This year, a friend from Tennessee joined me. I met her last summer when she stopped at Twice the Quilt and More while she was vacationing in Door County. It’s a small world.

When I arrived and unpacked, I showed off my version of Bonnie’s  Old Town mystery quilt from last winter. I chose my color palette while sitting on the front porch of the Retreat Inn last year from the landscape across the road.

It’s amazing what you can do with 5 days of non-stop sewing.  I have a new quilt top ready to be finished.  Look for it in the shop next spring!
